Teachers and Students Comment on Our Living History Programs
From the
students...
"I just want to thank you for what you have done. It was like I was there" (in the Civil War period)
"Thank you for putting together the Civil War reenactment. I really liked it. It taught me a lot more than what my social studies book has."
"I got to see how to make a wood barrel and learn about what tools they used to make things. I think the tools are different from what we use today. I also like the part when we learned about the kind of clothes the people wore back then."
"All of the people there did a wonderful job of teaching and showing me new things I didn't know."
"I learned how hard it was for the soldiers and what they had to go through. It was very cool when I saw the cooper make a quick bucket, because I wouldn't know where to start!"
"Thank you for showing us how people worked during the war. I learned a lot. I also enjoyed it. It was cool looking at all of the stuff you can do, and I heard that's just a few of the different kinds of jobs. I liked looking at all of the kinds of clothes and how to make the pails.

Dear New Jersey Civil War History Association,
For the past three years, your education program has been an extraordinary experience for the fifth grade students at the South Brunswick Upper Elementary School. We would like to thank you for sharing the superior quality of your program with us. Your volunteers were able to bring students learning to life through accurate portrayals of soldiers, civilians, and the overall life in the 1800’s. We were thoroughly impressed with your presentation and hope that you will join us again in the future for more valuable education experiences.
