Living History Programs for Schools and Communities
Our Association offers a number of programs and services designed to enrich the cultural and educational life of local schools and communities. Our members possess a wide range of skills and interests related to all aspects of life in the Civil War era, and we are always delighted to share those interests with others. Through our living history programs we hope to generate a better understanding of, and appreciation for, this vital chapter of our nation's past.

Parades
and Ceremonies
The 14th NJ Co. H participates in
several community parades and civic functions annually. We
present the look of a well drilled, Union Civil War regiment,
authentic in every detail.

Living History Exhibits
Throughout
the year, our association puts on living history exhibits for
public enjoyment and education at various community festivals and
celebrations. These exhibits usually include a Civil War
encampment, military drills and scenarios, "first
person" demonstrations, civilian impressions, Civil War era
crafts and fashion, period music, antique collecting, and even an
occasional skirmish. Each exhibit can be tailored to specific
community needs. In recent past seasons, our living history
exhibits in Kenilworth, Woodbridge, Plainsboro (Founder's Day), Toms River
and Cranbury (Cranbury Day) have helped to draw additional media
attention and thousands of spectators to these
events.

School Programs
Our
association offers school living history programs that bring
history to life in the classroom and help make the study of
history a more real and relevant experience for students. Our
military and civilian reenactors, all in authentic period dress,
are able to share with students a wealth of information and
"personal experience" on the Civil War and life of that
time--including military life and soldiering, national and local
politics, music, civilian life, crafts and trades, fashion, literature
and journalism, and the roles of women and children during the
war. We have attended many schools including Salk Middle School, Metuchen, Howell
High School, and many others!
